Log file not readable in the Gps tracker data logger software

Problem

I'm noticing that log files are not readable, so I can't use them for any check.

Solution

By default, the logger saves data to a log file without any modifications (raw data). So, if your device sends hex or binary data, you will get a binary log file. In this case, you can use any 3rd part hex editor or viewer to inspect a log file.

If you would like to get something readable, you should enable and configure a data parser plugin. Please look at our tutorials if you didn't use a parser before.

After this, change the following settings:

  1. Configuration - Other - Data view - Output type: Display parsed values.
  2. Configuration - Log file - Log rotation - Write to log: Write screen content.
  3. Optionally, you can change the log file extension to "txt" (w/o quotes).
